We are excited to report that Darienn Powers, our employee and future law school student, braved difficult weather this past week.  She camped out in line outside the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.  She traveled there specifically to hear oral arguments on the Proposition 8 case concerning gay marriage.  She read the party briefs in preparation.

Darienn endured cold, rain and snow, wrapped in a sleeping bag, plastic bag and poncho. She slept outside for 3 nights and was introduced to people who were paid by others (actor / director Rob Reiner, being one of them) to hold their place in line.  While waiting, she was interviewed by NPR, a local television station and the New York Times.

She was number 16 in line having arrived there at 6 a.m. on Saturday March 23.  Oral arguments were held on Tuesday March 26.  A very limited number of people are permitted entry during those proceedings which is why it was important to her to arrive early.

Her efforts were rewarded.  She made her way into the Supreme Court and was a witness to history.
